“Playing music in Bavarian inns is a living expression of local culture.”

We are one of only 25 inns to have received the “Musician-Friendly Inn” award.

“You can not only taste, feel, see, and smell home, but also hear it! Music is a cultural asset that shapes identity and is simply part of Bavarian pub culture. To preserve this tradition, the ‘Musician-Friendly Pub’ project was launched 28 years ago. Well over 500 Bavarian pubs have received the award since then – and another 25 will be added this year,” said Finance and Home Affairs Minister Albert Füracker with delight at the “Musician-Friendly Pub” award ceremony on November 19, 2024, in Wolnzach.

“Folk music is of great importance in society. It is by the people, for the people, and accessible to everyone. Music brings people together: regardless of location, age group, or background. A heartfelt thank you to the innkeepers honored today. They combine the outstanding quality of Bavarian inns with local musical traditions! My thanks also go to the ‘Musician-Friendly Inn’ working group for their many years of dedication!” said Füracker.

With this plaque, we show our guests that spontaneous and unannounced singing and playing music is not only possible and permitted, but also encouraged. As a restaurant, we provide snacks and drinks for the musicians.

The “Musician-Friendly Inn” project was launched in 1996 by the Upper Palatinate and Lower Bavaria districts, the Bavarian State Association for Local Heritage Preservation, and the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA Bayern). Since then, well over 500 inns from all Bavarian districts have received the award. Since 2019, the award has also been supported by the Bavarian Ministry of Home Affairs.

*** Superior classification received for the Römercastell

Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger and Angela Inselkammer, President of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association DEHOGA Bayern, today awarded star classifications to 48 hotels, guesthouses, inns and pensions in the Free State in Munich.

Our Römercastell Inn & Hotel in Böhming was awarded a prize by the German Hotel Classification on May 22, 2023. Owners Stefan and Marion Weber accepted the classification certificate.

In her welcoming address, Inselkammer emphasized: “These qualified companies make a significant contribution to preserving what is arguably the world’s most beautiful industry and, in addition to meeting the high legal requirements, undertake further training. For me, this is a welcome sign that we don’t need ever more laws and regulations, but rather that entrepreneurs can act responsibly. I am proud of the companies honored today and their outstanding dedication to our industry – this is anything but a given.”

Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger: “The stars in the Bavarian tourism sky are shining particularly brightly again today. The Bavarian hospitality industry is once again demonstrating that there is something to suit every taste and budget in every region of Bavaria. Anyone booking a hotel room with us can rely on the high quality of the accommodations. Bavaria stands for quality tourism. That’s why I’m delighted that we can recognize 47 hotels and one inn today.”

As part of the German Hotel Classification, 47 establishments received classification certificates. The highest demand was in the three-star category with 24 certified hotels, followed by the four-star category with 19 certified hotels. In addition, one one-star hotel, two two-star hotels, and one five-star hotel were awarded. In the category for guesthouses, inns, and bed and breakfasts, one establishment was classified as a three-star establishment.

The German Hotel Classification, with its five different categories – one to five stars – was developed and introduced in 1996 by the industry association DEHOGA, largely at the initiative of Bavaria. In 2005, the quality system was expanded to include the G-Classification for inns, guesthouses, and bed and breakfasts. The stars awarded in both classification systems are valid for a period of three years. In Bavaria, the assessments are carried out by BTG Bayern Tourist GmbH, a subsidiary of the Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association.

The Bavarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA Bayern) conducts on-site inspections of all establishments to be classified.
